This Himba ochre container is from Namibia and held a mixture of ochre and animal fat which is used as a cosmetic by the Himba women

"When the first overawed settlers saw it, some called it 'The land God made in anger.' But this sheltering giant of desert and sky is more like a world in which man seems to be such an unlikely visitor that he has no place. Yet he is beckoned and enchanted by the ghostly silence and surreal space of the Namib."
Jon Manchip White, author of "The Land God Made in Anger"

"Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge - wow! I'm sure it's the most wonderful lodge in Namibia. The manager couple, Steven and Gilda, are extremely nice people and one feels at home from the first minute. All the staff are very well-trained and our guide, Wayne, was the best. All in all, the highlight of my stay in Namibia - I should've stayed longer. Whenever I have clients who want the best, it has to be Sossusvlei."
Senior Travel Consultant, Rotunda Tours, Switzerland

"My hosts, Steve and Gilda Mavromatis, are hospitality personified, with no request being too outlandish. Meals, prepared by master chef Hugo Hayes, are lavish four course symphonies, featuring such delicacies as fillet of eland, oryx prosciutto and ostrich terrine - as well as more conventional choices."
Graham Simmons, "Dunes Alive!" - The Peak magazine

Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge featured as one of the world's top 20 new lodges in Condé Nast Traveller UK
