![]() Ngala has joined forces with the Africa Foundation to bring about positive differences in the communities surrounding the lodge. Conservation lessons for local schoolchildren, an equipped media centre, community computer centre, "Hippo" Rollers, hospitality education bursaries, Aids awareness and cricket coaching and tournaments are just some of the ways in which we try to make a difference in rural communities. A small local business has begun to thrive through the active support of Ngala and the Africa Foundation. Local transport entrepreneur, Mr Mashabane, applied for a small business loan to buy a second vehicle for transporting staff to and from the lodge. This opportunity has provided employment to five previously unemployed local residents. His letter to the Africa Foundation, gives a heartfelt insight into the trials of business people in rural areas. Ngala has enabled two students to complete the Eco-tourism training course and receive a Certificate in Game Ranging. The hope is to create better environmental practices among local people. An added benefit is the possibility of local candidates finding jobs with eco-tourism operators. Our guests play a critical role in helping us realise our dream and our vision. You are our future ambassadors, the meeting place between Africa and the world. You are the engine that drives our dream of advancing the green and wild frontiers of the oldest continent on earth, of helping us to permanently re-establish our planet's endangered species and wild places.
