The summers are hot and wet, the winters dry and warm.

Rainfall: The months of September and October are hot and dry, with the rains normally beginning in November. An average of between 600 and 700mm of rain falls between November and March, usually in the form of late afternoon or evening thunderstorms.

Temperature: Matetsi experiences hot, wet summers (November to March) and warm to cool, dry winters (April to October). Daytime temperatures in summer may rise above 35°C/95°F, while the nights in winter rarely drop below 10°C/50°F. The coolest months are June and July.

The best time to visit is April to May and August to September when the weather is mild with little rain. The best game viewing is from the end of March to the end of August.
