A:Yes, all dietary requirements will be catered for. When making your reservation, please advise us of any specific dietary requirements you may have and they will be communicated to the camp immediately. Should specific items, such as kosher meals, need to be flown in, there will be an additional charge, which will be quoted separately. Two weeks notice is required for kosher meals.

GUEST SAFETY

Q:Will I be safe?
A:Guest safety is of paramount importance – fully trained, uniformed security staff monitor animal activity within the camp areas and always escort guests to / from their tents, especially between dusk and dawn.

HEALTH

Q:What kind of medical precautions do I need to take?
A:Please consult your physician or health department for the latest health and anti-malarial precautions. Some countries require advance inoculations (and certificates thereof). We will advise you of these.

Q:How is emergency medical cover and travel insurance arranged?
A:Emergency medical evacuation insurance is included in the rate at all CC Africa lodges. This guarantees all reasonable, practical assistance in obtaining primary or emergency medical services for an insured person who suffers illness or injury. Please note that this is evacuation insurance only and does not replace normal travel insurance. Trained first-aiders are on standby at the camp at all times and emergency evacuation by air is available.

Q:What are the approximate starting times of the game drives?

Evening game drive 3:30pm

A:We employ over 200 full-time rangers, guides and trackers across the group, who are trained at CC Africa’s Inkwazi Ranger Tracking School at Phinda in South Africa and are renowned for their heartfelt enthusiasm and excellent knowledge of the African bush and wildlife. Guest safety is paramount at all times.

SAFARI SEASONS

Q:Which are the best months to visit Xaranna?
A:Superb game viewing and water activities are available throughout the year. The Okavango has hot, wet summers (October to April) and dry, cool winters (May to September). March to May is beautiful, as the vegetation turns green after the summer rains and many species of wild flower come into bloom. The Okavango Delta is generally at its highest flood levels from June to August. Daytime temperatures range between 24°C / 75°F and 27°C / 81°F, lowering to approximately 6°C / 43°F at night. September to December tends to be dry and hot, with an average temperature of 35°C / 95°F.

Q:When is the rainy season?
A:The rainy season – generally in the form of afternoon thundershowers – is from late December to the end of February, sometimes continuing into March. The sunlight after an African storm is incredibly intense and superb for wildlife photography. The summer rains also bring spectacular migrant birds to Botswana.

WATER

Q:Is the water safe to drink?
A:Water is pumped from a well and, although delta water is safe to drink, we do offer bottled water in the rooms and with meals.
