ACCESS
 
Q:What method of transportation is recommended to reach Lake Manyara Tree Lodge?
A:Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is easily accessible by daily scheduled flights or private charter to Manyara airstrip, followed by a leisurely 2.5-hour game drive to the Lodge. We can pre-book and package all of your regional/internal flights and transfers, and provide a meet and greet service at all airports.
  • There are daily international flights from Europe and South Africa to Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airports
  • Daily scheduled flights from Arusha Airport to Manyara airstrip
  • The road between Arusha and Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is in excellent condition and a road transfer from Arusha to the Park gates is only 1.5 hours

Q:How long should I stay at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge?
A:A minimum two-night stay is recommended.
 
 
AFRICAN WILDLIFE
 
Q:What are the characteristic animal species of the area?
A:Manyara is renowned for its tree-climbing lions and enormous flocks of nomadic lesser flamingo, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, olive baboons, and 387 bird species. Read more

Q:Are babysitting services offered?
A:Lake Manyara Tree Lodge's local housekeepers are available for babysitting.

Q:Are children welcome?
A:Yes. Children under 11 are warmly welcome at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. The recommended age for children on safari in Tanzania is eight years and older.

Q:Where can children sleep?
A:An extra bed can be arranged for one child (11 and under) sharing their parent's tree-house suite.

Q:What are the activities available for children?
A:Activities depend entirely on the age of the children and may include the following:
  • Special family game drives (at the discretion of the lodge manager and subject to availability)
  • Special one-hour children's bush walks within the camp perimeter
  • Planet Manager activity books
  • Special programmes can be compiled such as tracking for children, fishing, frog safaris and birding
  • Children’s meals and menus available
 
 
FOOD
 
Q:What style and type of meals are on offer?
A:All CC Africa lodges are world-renowned for their delicious Pan-African cuisine – fresh ingredients, simply prepared with an African flavour.

Q:Do you cater for specific diets?
A:Yes, all halaal and vegetarian dietary requirements will be catered for. When making your reservation, please advise us of any specific dietary requirements that you may have, and these will be communicated immediately to the Lodge. Should specific items need to be flown in, there will be an additional charge, which will be quoted separately. Regrettably, we are unable to cater for strictly kosher guests at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge.
 
 
GUEST SAFETY
 
Q:Will I be safe?
A:Guest safety is of paramount importance – Askaris (Maasai warriors) monitor animal activity within the Lodge areas, and escort guests to/from their tree-house suites (especially between dusk and dawn).
 
 
HEALTH
 
Q:What kind of medical precautions do I need to take?
A:Please consult your physician or health department for the latest health and anti-malarial precautions. Some countries require advance inoculations (and certificates thereof) – we will advise you of these.

Q:How is emergency medical cover and travel insurance arranged?
A:Emergency medical evacuation insurance is included in the rate at all CC Africa lodges. This guarantees all reasonable, practical assistance in obtaining primary or emergency medical services for an insured person who suffers illness or injury. Please note that this is evacuation insurance only and does not replace normal travel insurance. Trained first-aiders are on standby at the Lodge at all times, and emergency evacuation by air is available. The Lodge is two hours away from the nearest airstrip and the nearest fully equipped hospital is in Nairobi.

A:We offer a complimentary laundry service – no dry cleaning facilities available.

POWER
 
Q:Do you have electicity?
A:240v AC current is available during certain hours in all tree house suites. Voltage adapters can be supplied on request. No converters available. Plug sockets are square three pin sockets.
 
 
SAFARI ACTIVITIES
 
Q:What are the activities?
A:Lake Manyara Tree Lodge offers a range of exciting activities, from morning and afternoon/night game-drives to birding safaris and picnics on the lakeshore. Read more

Q:What are the approximate starting times of the game drives?
A:We will arrange game drives to suit your needs and those of the other guests at the Lodge.

Q:What is the length of the game drives?
A:Approximately three to four hours.

Q:What is the maximum number of guests allowed on the game drives?
A:Usually six – occasionally up to eight.

Q:How are CC Africa’s trackers and rangers trained?
A:We employ over 200 full-time rangers, guides and trackers across the group who are trained at CC Africa’s Ranger Training Schools - Mwewe at Klein’s Camp in Tanzania and Inkwazi at Phinda in South Africa - and are renowned for their heartfelt enthusiasm and excellent knowledge of the African bush and wildlife. Guest safety is paramount at all times.

SAFARI SEASONS
 
Q:Which are the best months to visit Lake Manyara Tree Lodge?
A:Lake Manyara has a warm to hot climate year round due to its altitude and close proximity to the equator. Minimum temperatures are 15°C/59°F to maximum 40°C/104°F, and the heat reaches its peak in the dry months of January and February. Superb game-viewing is offered throughout the year but is at its peak from December to February and from August to September.

Q:When is the rainy season?
A:There are two rainy seasons with the so-called short rains being from November to December and the long rains from March to May.

Q:Is Lake Manyara Tree Lodge open all year?
A:The Lodge closes during April and May each year.
 
 
WATER
 
Q:Can I drink the water?
A:We do not recommend you drink the tap water. Complimentary bottles of mineral water are available in your rooms and with meals.
